Our school programme

You Be You offers a community-wide programme which supports teachers, parents and pupils. We have three core aspects to our programme:

teacher training

A 2-3 hour diversity, equity and inclusion CPD workshop for school staff. Our training focuses on key themes centred around diversity, equity and inclusion. We empower teachers to talk about diversity, equity and inclusion with students. By the end of the workshop, staff will have:

  • Gained an understanding of diversity and inclusion, conscious and unconscious bias, intersectionality.

  • Considered how they could diversify their curriculum.

  • Explored how to implement a whole school approach.

  • Created a roadmap plan of how to embed change into the school.

Our sessions are 2-3 hours long, depending on group size. They can be held virtually or in person, and we will leave you with a roadmap and resources to use at the end of it. We train staff to not only understand the theory and learning of what it means to be truly diverse and inclusive, but we also leave you with practical tools that you can go onto use in your everyday practice as an educator.

Lessons and resources

We provide schools with 12 fully planned and resourced lessons for each year group (Nursery to Year 6).

The lessons centre around key diversity, equity and inclusion themes and topics including:

  • When I grow up

  • Families

  • Play time

  • The Me Inside

  • What is a leader?

  • Feelings

  • Friendship

home activity kits

These are given to students to complete at home with their families. This ensures that the You Be You conversations continue beyond the school gates.

Our Home Activity Kits are designed to engage families around three core themes including: Be Yourself (celebrating self identities), Be Thoughtful (exploring mental health and wellbeing) and Be Anything (raising aspirations).

All of our content has been designed by diversity and inclusion experts alongside teachers so it is engaging, informative and inspiring.
