You Be You delivers two programmes in primary and secondary schools that build the skills young people need to thrive, in education, in work and in life. Rooted in Lambeth since 2019, we don’t parachute in. We know these communities, these children and what they’re up against. That’s why our impact is real and measurable.

Since 2019, our work has reached thousands of children, young people and families across London, Birmingham and Bradford, through two programmes rooted in the same belief: that identity and empowering young people with life skills is a strength, not a barrier.

Student Voice Programme
WHO Young people aged 14–25 in secondary schools, sixth forms and universities.
DURATION 6-8 weeks building confidence, leadership, public speaking and EDI skills, culminating in real presentations to employers and professionals.
HOW Young people don’t just learn about diversity. They become the experts. They co-design EDI training and deliver it directly to businesses, holding organisations accountable to the next generation’s standards. They leave with language for their experience, community in their difference, and the belief that their voice belongs in every room.
WHY They also leave with something employers are looking for: confidence in their own voice, the focus to develop and deliver a real project under pressure, the ability to lead a room, and the experience of working as a team. These aren’t soft skills, they’re career skills. From partners like Coventry University.
south asian art Programme
WHO Primary school pupils in Years 3 and 4. Ten hands-on workshops using South Asian art, storytelling, music and dance to celebrate identity, build belonging, and embed cultural representation in the curriculum.
DURATION XXXX
HOW Art isn’t just creative, it builds life skills. Pupils develop focus and patience through intricate embroidery and mandala work, teamwork through collective making, and confidence through presenting their artwork publicly. Teachers consistently tell us they see changes in children who have never been engaged like this before.
WHY From Warli storytelling to kantha stitch embroidery, mandala painting to Bhangra dance, every child leaves having made something they’re proud of. Across five partner schools in 2024–25, pupil satisfaction ran at 89–99% in every session.
Both programmes share the same foundation: life skills, identity, community and heritage. Every child and young person deserves to feel seen, and to know their voice belongs in every room.
